On January 15, 2024, 9.40 a.m., the Committee on Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation hosted an event of ‘STAR STEMS TALENT AWARD (Final) & SMART TRAINER (Season 1)’ by having Air Chief Marshal Prajin Juntong, Chairman of the Committee on Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation, presided over this event, accompanied by Gen. Phahol Sanganet, Chairman of the Working Group for Thai Intellectual Innovation, Solidarity, and Sustainable Peace, and delegates from institutions joined this event at 402 – 403 Meeting Room, 4th Floor, the Parliamentary Building (Senate Building).
Gen. Phahol said that the Committee on Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation hosted a workshop on ‘Motivation on Intellectual Innovation and Personnel Prototype Production, a training of ‘STAR STEMS: SMART TRAINER’ hosted by the Thai Occupational Medicine Foundation cooperated with the Committee on Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation, and ‘STAR STEMS TALENT AWARD’ (22 teams from 17 institutions) which was arranged on November 15, 2023, the Committee has an idea to response the Strategy for Human Capital Development and Strengthening in Thai National Strategy 2018 – 2037 and the Master Plan of Thai National Strategy which was influenced under the section 65 of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand, by focusing on the promoting human development at all stages of life especially juvenile. This project will carry out various activities under the concept of ‘STAR STEMS’ which offers situation-based learning (SBL) by participating in the STAR Process and integrated with five concepts of STEMS which are Scientific Thinking (S), Thai technology (T), English Engineering (E), Moral Mathematics (M), and Socio Geology (S) for human resources or youth model development motivation.
This event aimed to be (1) a platform for students who participated in the workshop of ‘Motivation on Intellectual Innovation and Personnel Prototype Production on September 21 – 22, 2023 to represent their STAR STEMS projects which can reproduce practical projects benefit to the sustainable peacefulness of society (2) gave the reward to all ‘STAR STEM’ participants and award to final contestants in intellectual innovation.
The “STAR STEMS TALENT AWARD led all representatives to present their projects to the judge’s committee within 10 minutes. The winner of the education category is Prince of Songkhla University with 50,000 Baht, the 1st runner-up is Suan Dusit University with 20,000 Baht, and the consolation awards are Panyapiwat Institute of Management, Rajamangala University of Technology Rattanakosin. The winner of the organizational management category is Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University with 50,000 Baht, the 1st runner-up is Udon Thani Rajabhat University, and the consolation award is North Bangkok University. The winner of the social development category is Pathum Thani University with 50,000 Baht, the 1st runner-up is Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon with 20,000 Baht, and the consolation award is King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang Prince of Chumphon Campus and Suan Dusit University.
This event will give valuable experiences and a platform to practice ‘STAR STEMS’ thinking development which can be used effectively and sustainably in daily life and solve career challenges and social problems leading to self-development and creativity in Thai society.
