Dr. Natworapol Rachsiriwatcharabul, President of Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon (RMUTP), revealed that the university has continuously emphasized the environment and sustainability by collaborating with government and private agencies to produce innovations and install equipment to reduce energy consumption in the organization. This year, to make the work more tangible, the university has announced a policy to be a Green University in 2024, using the conceptual framework of the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings in 4 criteria for management, creating awareness, and consciousness for RMUTP personnel and students, namely:
1. Energy and climate change: There is a campaign to announce the use of electricity by turning on lights and air conditioners only when necessary, along with increasing green spaces in all areas of the university.
2. Waste: The university supports the use of an electronic document management system to facilitate work and reduce paper use, reduce the use of drinking glasses and plastic bags by encouraging students and personnel to choose products made from natural materials instead, and sort waste to reuse usable waste.
3. Water: A campaign has been launched to use water sparingly.
4. Transportation: The university has proposed organizing a Car-free Day activity to reduce air pollution from travel and raise awareness of environmental problems, and campaign for the use of public transportation and carpooling, following the concept of going the same way together. In addition, it is expected that in the future RMUTP will be one of the organizations that creates sustainability for the country by instilling and promoting awareness among the university’s students.
