RMUTP Hosts 40th “Phra Nakhon Games” Under Eco-Friendly Concept: “Go Green: Game On, Green On”

BANGKOK, February 10, 2026 – Ms.Waraporn Rungtrakarn, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), presided over the opening ceremony of the 40th Rajamangala University of Technology (RMUT) Games, officially titled “Phra Nakhon Games.” The event is being held from February 9–15, 2026, at Chulalongkorn University Stadium, Bangkok. Organized under the theme “Phra Nakhon Games Go Green: Game On, Green On,” the athletes are competing for the prestigious Royal Trophy graciously bestowed by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

Dr.Natworapol Rachsiriwatcharabul, Acting President of Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon (RMUTP), delivered the keynote address welcoming executives and faculty from all nine RMUT campuses across Thailand.

Promoting Sportsmanship and Sustainability

Dr.Natworapol stated that the primary goal of the Phra Nakhon Games is to develop students’ athletic abilities while fostering sportsmanship—teaching them to win, lose, and forgive. The games also serve to strengthen the bonds between the nine sister universities:

  • RMUT Thanyaburi
  • RMUT Bangkok
  • RMUT Tawan-ok
  • RMUT Phra Nakhon (Host)
  • RMUT Rattanakosin
  • RMUT Lanna
  • RMUT Srivijaya
  • RMUT Suvarnabhumi
  • RMUT Isan

A “Green” Sporting Event

This year’s competition places a heavy emphasis on environmental consciousness. Key initiatives include:

  • ECOLIFE Platform: A collaboration to reward participants with points for waste separation and reducing food waste.
  • Electric Transportation: Thai Smile Bus Co., Ltd. has provided electric buses (EVs) for athlete shuttle services to reduce carbon emissions.
  • Global Standards: The event aligns with the UI Green Metric and                               THE Sustainability Impact Rating, supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by reducing paper/plastic use and promoting recycling.

“I expect the new generation participating in these games to realize that humans and the environment are inseparable. We hope this mindset becomes a habit that expands further into the future,” said Dr.Natworapol.

The opening ceremony featured a spectacular light and sound show titled “The Power of Unity RMUT Next Level,” symbolizing the power of Rajamangala moving toward the future. The event also featured a wind orchestra performance.
