RMUTP continues the traditional Thai Songkran festival, celebrating the Thai New Year in 2024: “Joyful Songkran, carrying tiffin carrier to offer food to the monks.

On April 11, 2024, Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon (RMUTP) organized a project to preserve traditions and important days, the third activity of which was RMUTP Songkran Festival for the year 2024, titled “Joyful Songkran, carrying tiffin carrier to offer food to the monks.” The event was led by Dr. Natworapol Rachsiriwatcharabul, the President of RMUTP, along with the former president, administrators, former lecturers, committee members, and members of the Elderly Club, as well as administrators, lecturers, and staff participating in The Monk Ceremony with nine monks from Wat Noranarthsoontarikaram. The participants offer food to the monks at the D-Hall and the Activity Area, Thewet Center.

Moreover, there was also the annual general meeting of the Elderly club at Rabi Badhana Conference Room, Office of the President. Following this was the opening of the event to preserve the Thai-style Songkran tradition for the year 2024, ” Joyful Songkran, carrying tiffin carrier to offer food to the monks,” chaired by Asst. Prof. Dr. Kasidech Sutthivanich, Vice-President for Administrative and University Council Affairs, which included the pouring of water over the Buddha images, Statue of His Royal Highness Prince Rapee Pattanasak Krom Luang Ratchaburi Direkrit and Statue of His Royal Highness Prince Aphakorn Kiatwong Krom Luang Chumphon Khet Udomsak, followed by the water pouring ceremony to ask for blessings from the elders. The event also featured a Thai cultural performance, “Thai Musical Ensemble” by the Chalong Khwan Sangkeet Band, demonstration activities, and the sharing of knowledge about traditional Thai desserts, “Making Kalamae, or Thai caramel, and Kao Niew Dang, or Sticky Rice in Palm Sugar,” by the Faculty of Home Economics Technology, which received great interest from participants.

Nevertheless, the purpose of this event was to preserve and promote cultural heritage, and to pass on the traditions of Songkran, the Thai New Year celebration, as well as to take the opportunity to use Songkran, which is also the day of the elderly, to hold the annual general meeting of the RMUTP Club every year. This allows the elderly to participate in creative activities with the university. Additionally, it provided an opportunity to receive news and updates, and to create participation among the staff of RMUTP in building good relationships and fostering a culture of organization, while also promoting the preservation of Thai traditions and culture.
