On February 24, 2022, Dr. Nattaworn Phonarjthanawat, the President of Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon (RMUTP), appointed Assistant Professor Saratha Kaengpengeun, Deputy Dean for Student Affairs, and Ms. Malika Weerasai, Director of Student Development Division, as representatives of the university to receive the Smoke-Free Institute Award for the year 2022 from the Professional Network for Health Promotion Society of Thailand for Tobacco-Free Society. They also received an honorary plaque from the Exemplary Tobacco Control Institute for the years 2020-2022 from the National Network for Tobacco Control. The awards were presented by Associate Professor Dr. Somsee Paosawasdi, the President of the Medical Council of Thailand, during the “Clear Sky Academic Conference and National Network for Tobacco Control General Meeting 2022.” The event was held at Siam Makutrajakuman Building, Chalermprakiat 50 Years Building, and was organized by the Medical Association of Thailand under the Royal Patronage.
These recognitions highlighted that Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon is an educational institution that strongly supports and promotes genuine and continuous efforts in tobacco control advocacy. Additionally, the university’s notable achievements in tobacco control advocacy were acknowledged during this event.
