

Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon (RMUTP), along with 58 universities across the country, has signed a declaration of intent for sustainable development in collaboration with the Sustainable University Network of Thailand and the United Nations in Thailand. This initiative aims to encourage all institutions to progress toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in alignment with the United Nations framework, supporting Thailand’s ambition to become a high-income, inclusive, sustainable, resilient, and progressive nation.
The initiative aligns with the country’s 20-year national strategy, the 13th National Economic and Social Development Plan, and the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) economy model. Representing RMUTP at the signing ceremony was Dr.Sorasutee Buapool, Assistant to the President for Research and Innovation Development, alongside key figures including Prof. Dr.Pongrak Sribanditmongkol, President of the Council of University Presidents of Thailand, Assoc. Prof. Dr.Kritchai Sriboonma, Chairman of the Sustainable University Network of Thailand, and Michaela Friberg-Storey, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Thailand.
The signing event took place at the United Nations Conference Center on Ratchadamnoen Nok Road, Bangkok, on November 13, 2024.
Dr.Sorasutee Buapool, Assistant to the President for Research and Innovation Development at Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon, stated that educational institutions play a crucial role in youth development by providing knowledge through education and research. This contributes to producing high-quality graduates who serve as key drivers in the development of local communities, society, the nation, and the world.
The signing of the declaration of intent for sustainable development with the United Nations in Thailand marks a significant step in strengthening education for sustainable development at the national level. The initiative focuses on enhancing the capabilities of administrators, faculty members, students, parents, and communities to engage in activities that support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Sustainable development will be integrated into university curricula, teaching methodologies, and assessment approaches. Additionally, it aims to foster students’ skills, competencies, values, and behaviors. This signing aims to establish a collaborative network among universities nationwide, supporting sustainable development in partnership with the Sustainable University Network of Thailand and the United Nations in Thailand.
