RMUTP Preserves Buddhist Traditions through the Offering of Lent Candles

On July 9, 2025, Assoc. Prof. Dr.Nattachote Rugthaicharoencheep, Vice President of Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon (RMUTP), led university executives, faculty members, and staff to participate in the “Preserving Traditions and Important Cultural Days” Project – Activity 6: “RMUTP Upholds Buddhism through the Annual Candle Offering Ceremony 2025.” The ceremony took place at Wat Suthat Thepwararam Ratchaworamahawihan, Phra Nakhon District, Bangkok. Phra Sriwachirathammaphon, Assistant Abbot of Wat Suthat Thepwararam, presided over the monastic ceremony and received the Buddhist Lent candle. The event was supported by the Faculty of Home Economics Technology, who beautifully decorated the candle with great craftsmanship. Additionally, a donation of 15,851 baht was presented for the maintenance of the temple.

In the morning, Dr.Kongkiat Maha-in, Assistant to the President for Arts and Culture at Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon, along with university personnel and students, participated in the Buddhist chanting ceremony and the candle procession ceremony organized in collaboration with the Office for the Promotion of Buddhism, Department of Religious Affairs, Ministry of Culture. The event included the offering of the Buddhist Lent candles at Wat Benchamabophit Dusitvanaram, Dusit District, Bangkok. This activity was held with the objective of promoting and preserving the traditional candle offering ceremony during Buddhist Lent, while also instilling a sense of duty among Thai people to conserve and promote Thailand’s valuable cultural heritage. It further aimed to encourage the proper practice of Buddhist teachings in daily life.

Additionally, on July 8, 2025, Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon also participated in the Candle Offering Tradition event organized by the Dusit District Office. Asst. Prof. Sattha Khaengpenkhae, Assistant to the President for Special Affairs, represented the university at the ceremony held at Wat Chanthrasamoson, Bangkok.
