RMUTP Students Connect Fashion Concepts with Local Wisdom and Recycled Materials on the Runway at Bangkok International Fashion Week 2025

RMUTP Faculty of Industrial Textiles and Fashion Design Students Showcase 25 Creative Works at the Opening of Bangkok International Fashion Week 2025, Blending Local Identity and Eco-Fashion Concepts

Bangkok International Fashion Week 2025 (BIFW 2025) – Visionary Stage at Siam Center – continues its annual tradition as a platform that empowers fashion design students to demonstrate their creative potential and gain hands-on professional experience. This year, Siam Center, in collaboration with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and Epson Thailand, presents the special collection Siam Center X TAT: Thai Creative Experience, featuring designs made with local Thai fabrics from various provinces. The initiative highlights the role of universities in promoting Thai fashion innovation while preserving local craftsmanship and wisdom in creative ways.

Twelve leading universities across Thailand were invited to showcase their students’ designs. Among them, the Faculty of Textile Industry and Fashion Design, Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon (RMUTP), was honored to present 25 fashion creations—including 23 student designs and 2 special collaborative pieces by designers Keng Harit Buayoi and Yoshi Rinrada Thurapan—during the opening show.

The showcased collection drew inspiration from Buriram Province, reflecting the cultural essence of the region through motifs of Phanom Rung Stone Castle and the traditional “Sin Teen Daeng” fabric. The presentation not only celebrated regional identity but also demonstrated innovative approaches to sustainable fashion.

In addition, RMUTP students presented works aligned with the Circular Economy concept—transforming fashion waste and recycled materials into contemporary designs that intertwine sustainability with Thai craftsmanship and local wisdom. A highlight among these was the work of Ms.Angkhana Panyadee, a fourth-year student in the Faculty of Industrial Textiles and Fashion Design program, whose creation embodied the vision of future fashion rooted in sustainability and cultural creativity.

Ms.Angkhana Panyadee, a fourth-year student in Faculty of Industrial Textiles and Fashion Design at RMUTP, shared that her collection was inspired by the lifestyle of the new generation passionate about online gaming, combined with the concept of efficient resource use. She creatively repurposed leftover materials from the fashion industry to create new textile textures and artistic dimensions, adding hand-painted details to make each piece unique while reflecting eco-fashion values focused on creativity and environmental responsibility.

Her designs also incorporated secondhand clothing and deadstock fabrics, giving new value to discarded materials through upcycling and techniques such as fabric slashing, where layers of textile waste are stitched and cut to form new textures and patterns. Through thoughtful color coordination and composition, she aimed to balance aesthetics with sustainability.
