Three faculties of Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon (RMUTP) joined forces to showcase their capability in developing woven textile products made from sugarcane leaf fiber—an agricultural byproduct—into sustainable Thai fashion. The initiative was featured at the annual seminar of the Working Group on Grassroots Economic Development.
Faculty members and students from the Faculty of Textile Industry and Fashion Design, RMUTP, presented their creative works under the project “Creative Young Designer Season 5” during the seminar, with Dr.Natworapol Rachsiriwatcharabul, President of RMUTP, Dr.Kongkiat Maha-in, Assistant to the President for Arts and Culture, faculty members, staff, and students in attendance. The event took place at Plaenany Hall, Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Bangkok, on September 29, 2025.

At the event, RMUTP’s Faculty of Textile Industry and Fashion Design showcased a concept for developing community-woven fabrics from Ban Nong Ling, Suphan Buri Province, utilizing sugarcane leaf fibers—agricultural waste repurposed into textile materials. The concept emphasized upcycling, valuing sustainability, and balancing fashion and the environment. Notably, the project illustrated the journey of sugarcane leaf fibers from agricultural residue to wearable fabric—symbolizing the connection between nature, local wisdom, and modernity. It reflects the advancement of Thai fashion toward sustainability and serves as inspiration for expanding local craftsmanship to the global stage.
This activity was supported by Thai Beverage Public Company Limited (ThaiBev) and carried out through collaboration among three RMUTP faculties: the Faculty of Architecture and Design, the Faculty of Business Administration, and the Faculty of Architecture and Design. Together, they contributed to developing knowledge in design and management for the Ban Nong Ling weaving community in Suphan Buri Province—demonstrating the academic and creative potential of RMUTP’s faculty and students in fulfilling the university’s mission to nurture integrated innovators equipped with knowledge and competence to serve society.
