On October 17, 2024, Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya presided over the inauguration of a mobile breast cancer screening project using a mammography unit to honor His Majesty the King on the auspicious occasion of his 6th cycle birthday anniversary on July 28, 2024. The ceremony took place at the Royal Pavilion at Sanam Luang, Phra Nakhon District, Bangkok. On this occasion, Her Royal Highness also presented honorary plaques to benefactors of the Kanchanabaramee Foundation, with Dr.Natworapol Rachsiriwatcharabul, President of Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon (RMUTP), receiving the honorary plaque.
Dr.Natworapol Rachsiriwatcharabul revealed that October is globally recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. According to the National Cancer Institute, the number of breast cancer cases continues to increase each year. However, with advances in medical technology, early detection significantly improves the chances of successful treatment. To help reduce the risk for Thai women, RMUTP has donated 200,000 baht to the Kanchanabaramee Foundation and will organize a breast cancer screening project in honor of His Majesty the King on November 6-7, 2024, at Bangkok Commercial Center, RMUTP. This campaign aims to raise awareness among women, especially those at risk, by encouraging self-breast examinations and offering mammography screenings to detect early-stage breast cancer.
