RMUTP Lecturer Clinches 4th Place in Wellness Scent Creation Contest

Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon (RMUTP) proudly announces that Asst. Prof. Dr.Sirirat Panich, a lecturer in the Health, Cosmetic, and Anti-Aging Technology program at the Faculty of Science and Technology, was awarded 4th place for her creation, “The Love Within – Wan Sao Long: A Charm That Brings the Heart Back to Self-Love.” The award was presented at the 2026 Thai Raw Material Scent Creation Contest under the theme “Create the Signature Wellness Scent of WAN SAO LONG,” organized by the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine.

The competition attracted 47 entries nationwide, with only 5 advancing to the final round to present their signature massage oil prototypes, inspirations, and business opportunities at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) on August 21, 2026.

Asst. Prof. Dr.Sirirat Panich revealed that “The Love Within” utilizes scientific knowledge regarding essential oils and the chemical composition of aromatic compounds to design the scent. By studying the volatile compounds of each raw material, she found that Wan Sao Long contains limonene, camphene, camphor, fenchyl acetate, and α-pinene, which provide a green and herbal foundation. Son Hom (Fragrant Pine) adds α-pinene, β-pinene, and limonene for a fresh forest dimension, while Bergamot provides a bright citrus tone.

This chemical data was linked with olfactory characteristics and matched through experimentation to develop four distinct scent phases: Urban Release (escaping the city to fresh air), Warm Embrace (the warmth of Thai herbs), Hidden Bloom (inner beauty blossoming as one loves oneself), and Inner Calm (the final destination of peace, warmth, and inner balance), with Wan Sao Long serving as the heart of every phase. This product design is not merely about selecting fragrant materials but designing a scent based on scientific data.

“Being selected by the distinguished panel of judges as one of the top 5 finalists and receiving this award reflects the potential of extending knowledge in the extraction of active ingredients and essential oils from herbs. It connects the university’s research with the private sector to add value to Thai raw materials and develop fragrance products that possess identity, creativity, and a scientific foundation. This aligns with the vision of propelling Thailand to become an international hub for Medical & Wellness Tourism,” Asst. Prof. Dr.Sirirat concluded.
