Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon (RMUTP) extends its congratulations to the student and alumni team from the Faculty of Home Economics Technology at RMUTP. The team, comprising Miss Duangkamon Thongyodkaew, a fourth-year student majoring in Home Economics Business Administration, along with alumni Mr. Jakrapop Sampetchcharoen, Mr. Kathayut Horntaku, and Mr. Suthep Raksa, won the first prize and the Royal Trophy of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, in the orchid arrangement competition at the 17th “Suan Luang Rama IX Flora Festival Honoring Her Majesty the Queen” under the theme of “Orchid Colors.” The event was presided over by Mr. Charunthada Karnasuta, Chairman of the Queen Sirikit Park Foundation, on August 14, 2024, at the 72nd Anniversary Building’s conference room.
Miss Duangkamon Thongyodkaew, one of the team representatives, shared that this competition was the result of the team’s collective brainstorming and creativity, leading to the creation of the piece titled Nam Phrathai Sai Yai Rak (The Stream of Royal Grace). The artwork tells a story through orchids and their various colors, carefully selected to align with the intended message. The team used natural materials to create a spiral vertical pattern in the shape of a water droplet, symbolizing the abundant grace of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, towards the Thai people. The work also aimed to express love, care, and loyalty to the royal institution. The project was meticulously detailed from the initial structure to the final arrangement, where branches, orchid stems, and roots were woven into the framework, with the orchids being arranged and decorated on the competition day according to the designed color scheme. The uniqueness of this piece lies in the incorporation of all parts of the orchid, resulting in a diverse and intricate work. The techniques used were learned both in the classroom and through real-world experiences, making this competition a valuable opportunity to learn from peers and seniors, contributing to personal development for the future.
