On January 26, 2024, the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation, organized a press conference to announce the upcoming ‘Thailand Inventors’ Day 2024’ and National Research Award 2024 under the concept ‘Inventions and innovations for leading the country’ which has been continuously organized for 25 years to commemorate the historical event of the presented of invention patents of “The Chai Pattana Aerator Project” which is a mechanical device designed for low-speed surface Aerator, in honorable to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the Great, under the royal title of King Rama IX as “The Father of Thai Invention”. In this special year, the NRCT has received royal grace from Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn to personally preside over the opening ceremony of the “Thailand Inventors’ Day 2024” on Friday, February 2, 2024, at 9.00 a.m., the recipients of the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) National Research Awards were granted the Royal Commendation, and honored to receive the certificates at the ceremony which held at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC), Bang Na, Bangkok. The event was presided over for the press conference by Dr. Wiparat De-ong, the Director of the National Research Council of Thailand at the National Science Research and Innovation Information Center, 1st Floor, NRCT Building 8.
Dr. Wiparat De-ong, the Director of the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), stated that the NRCT under the part of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation (MHESI), has organized the grand event of Thailand Inventors’ Day 2024 which took place from February 2 – 6, 2024. On February 2, 2024, the awarded recipients were honored with royal grace from Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. Her Royal Highness graciously presented the National Research Awards 2024 to Thai inventors and researchers. The awards included distinctions for National Outstanding Researchers, Research Achievement Awards, Invention Achievement Awards, and Thesis Awards, totaling more than 170 prizes.
For the 5-days event, there was an exhibition showcasing over 1,000 works of inventions, research, and innovations. These inventions originated from Thai inventors, international inventors, as well as displays from the youth segment, including student works from higher education level, secondary education level, and vocational education level with over 700 selected works competed in the Thailand New Gen Inventors Award 2024: I-New Gen Award 2024 which the results will be announced on February 6, 2024. The event covered a wide range of innovations applicable, including agriculture, medicine, quality of life, and elderly care. There were also numerous innovations available for commercialization, with over 500 works from 30 international organizations participating in Thailand Inventors’ Day 2024.
In addition, there was a conference stage related to the promotion and support of inventions, research, and innovations in the central stage. There were also numerous workshops and activities with amazing topics without a registration fee. Therefore, we cordially invite everyone to attend this Thailand Inventors’ Day 2024 event to encourage pride in Thai inventors and researchers and appreciate their knowledge and capabilities demonstrated followed by inventors and researchers’ standards that ready for practical use, solving realistic challenges, and contributing economic value to the country.
During the press conference, there are numerous examples of inventive works, research, and innovations, including for the creative inventions award such as a Mobile Terpene and Essential Oil Extraction Device utilizing Thai Herbs and Aromatic Flowers. This invention is a low-temperature and low-pressure dense phase gas technology made for standards elevation of the Thai traditional medicine and cosmetic production industry. The technology was developed by the Faculty of the Institute of Thai Traditional Medicine and Pharmaceutical Industry, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, and received an outstanding award. Another distinguished invention is a Dual-arm Robotic Training Device through a symmetrical reflex mechanism, developed by the Thammasat University, Rangsit Campus which received a highly commendable award for its contribution to training bilateral arm movements.
For the market and innovation zone, there were many products such as organic probiotic beverages, pineapple-flavored coffee, and coconut-flavored coffee from Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University. Additionally, there were innovations in the production of silk fabric washing products using natural extract technology from Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon (RMUTP).
The Highlight Zone exhibition featured The Survival Game: Exploring Dangerous Zones, which was presented by using a virtual reality game of Tsunami Disaster simulation, and the Fruit Fun Fair which showcased research products related to tropical fruits of Barracuda Mango, irradiated pomelo, and fresh-cut durian. The event also featured a seminar introducing the National Outstanding Researchers 2024 in the field of Law, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nartnirun Channgam from the Faculty of Law, Thammasat University.
Participants will have a chance to explore an exhibition featuring over 1,000 inventions, including the honorable of the Father of Thai Invention Exhibition, the National Research Awards Exhibition, an exhibition of inventions and innovations from domestic and international network organizations, the International Invention Exhibition (IPITEx) 2024, the Thailand New Gen Inventors Award 2024: I-New Gen Award 2024, and other Highlight Exhibitions such as the Youth Inventors Club which aims to promote learning and development among young inventors.
This event also includes more than 100 topics of seminars and training sessions will be conducted, including seminars on promoting the development of inventions and innovations, hands-on training in creative invention, and vocational training.
