Fostering Thai-Chinese Multicultural Traditions

Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon (RMUTP) recently organized a cultural exchange project to celebrate the diversity of the Thai-Chinese multicultural society within the community surrounding the former palace of His Royal Highness Prince Rabi Badhanasakdi, Prince of Ratchaburi. As the second activity of this initiative, a merit-making ceremony was held to honor the prince, commemorating his immense grace and monumental contributions to the university and Thai society.

On this auspicious occasion, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graciously granted a set of monk’s robes to be offered during the Sadappakon (requiem) and the Thai-Chinese multicultural merit-making ceremonies, dedicated as a royal merit to HRH Prince Rabi Badhanasakdi.

The ceremony was presided over by Lieutenant General Chainarong Kitrungrojcharoen, Vice President of the University Council, He was joined by RMUTP President Dr.Natworapol Rachsiriwatcharabul, M.R.Pornrapee Abhakorn, a representative of the Rabibhadhana family, alongside university executives, personnel, and students. The event took place on Friday, March 27, 2026, at the D-Hall Auditorium, RMUTP Thewet Center.

This activity reflected the strength and unity of the Thai-Chinese multicultural society among the residents surrounding the university through a beautifully integrated religious ceremony. The event was gracefully supported by Thai Buddhist monks from Wat Thewarat Kunchon Worawihan, who performed the Sadappakon rite, alongside the Chief Abbot of the Anam Nikaya order and his fellow monks, who conducted traditional Buddhist rituals.

Concurrently, special explanations were provided regarding the meanings behind these rituals to disseminate cultural knowledge and help preserve invaluable traditions that are rarely seen today. Furthermore, in the afternoon, the university organized a charity distribution activity for the residents of the surrounding communities. This initiative aimed to strengthen positive relationships and foster a supportive, sustainable coexistence between the university and its neighbors.
