In 2025, Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon (RMUTP) initiated Three student-led projects related to sustainability. These initiatives demonstrate the university’s commitment to promoting environmental awareness and fostering sustainable development through student engagement and innovation.
- One Day Trip: Mangrove Conservation with RMUTP
On March 29, 2025, the Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon Alumni Association, in collaboration with the university, organized a social responsibility activity titled “Mangrove Conservation with RMUTP”. This one-day trip aimed to promote environmental awareness and community engagement.
The event included mangrove tree planting, ecosystem learning, and exploration of local community life at Ban Khlong Khon, Samut Songkhram Province. The initiative sought to restore degraded mangrove forests, promote biodiversity, and preserve the delicate coastal ecosystem.
This project reflects RMUTP’s continued efforts to foster sustainability and hands-on environmental learning experiences for students and alumni alike.
- Student Project on Plant Genetic Conservation under the Royal Initiative
On February 6, 2025, students from the Faculty of Architecture and Design, Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon, organized a field visit as part of a project supporting the Plant Genetic Conservation Project under the Royal Initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.
The initiative, titled “Royal Initiative to Creative Practice through Vocational Skills Based on the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy,” aimed to enhance students’ understanding of sustainable development and conservation practices.
The visit took place at the Poompruksa Natural Learning Center in Hin Tang Subdistrict, Nakhon Nayok Province. Students had the opportunity to explore local knowledge systems, environmental preservation models, and sustainable living practices inspired by royal projects.
This activity demonstrates RMUTP’s commitment to instilling royal philosophy-driven environmental consciousness and vocational creativity among students.
- Cultural and Environmental Learning through Plant Genetic Conservation Project
On August 16, 2025, third-year students from the Department of Packaging and Printing Design, Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon, participated in the Plant Genetic Conservation Project under the Royal Initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.
The activity took place at the Khok Nasai Learning Center, located in Sao Hai District, Saraburi Province. The project aimed to cultivate environmental awareness and cultural appreciation among students by immersing them in the traditional lifestyle of the Lao Wiang community.
- Participating in traditional rice planting (paddy field activity)
- Crafting pandanus flower arrangements
- Making local dessert “Kanom Dad-Krata” on iron pans
- Studying the sustainable way of life and cultural heritage of the Lao Wiang people in Saraburi
This experiential learning activity strengthened students’ appreciation of local wisdom, sustainable agriculture, and the connection between cultural identity and biodiversity conservation, aligning with Thailand’s Sufficiency Economy Philosophy and SDG Goals.
